Ride with the racing Roland

Get in please! The historic narrow-gauge railway “Rasender Roland” is the steaming soul of the island of Rügen and has been taking its passengers to the most beautiful places on the island since 1895.

Rügen is more than just a natural paradise - those interested in technology are also attracted by the old steam locomotive, which is known far beyond its borders. The affectionately called “Racing Roland” is anything but hectic: the Rügensche BäderBahn travels 24 kilometers in around 80 minutes at a leisurely 30 km/h. To this day, the train is an integral part of the island's local transport network, but it is also a rolling museum: you quickly feel like you have gone back in time during the journey as you steam and breathe through the forests and meadows. For many people it is more than just a ride on a train. It is a part of Rügen's history that is still lived today.

With your day ticket you travel from Putbus via Binz, Sellin and Baabe to Göhren. You can get on and off as often as you like to discover the beautiful corners of the well-known seaside resorts and sights - how about the Granitz hunting lodge, the beautiful piers, the white beaches or the treetop path? Or you can just stay seated and enjoy the beautiful views during the relaxing journey.
